Joachim Clauss
Principal

TFH Berlin, Dipl. Engineer Architect

Joachim has significant experience across all aspects of the architectural industry, working across award winning sports, transport, museum and exhibition centre projects for 20 years. He co-founded Smartform in 2018 and is recognised for his expertise in client liaison, briefing, management of multi-disciplinary teams, innovation, and Design Technology. On our Marvel Stadium Upgrade Project Joachim is the Sports Architecture Operational Design Lead.

Chris Smiles
Principal

Chris co-founded Smartform and brings over 20 years’ experience in the design and delivery of award-winning projects; from major Sports & Entertainment Precincts and Transport Infrastructure to iconic landmark structures, visitor attractions and cultural projects. He is currently leading the Sports Planning & Architecture for Melbourne’s $225m Marvel Stadium Upgrade

Chris is design and client focussed and brings a strong conceptual and narrative based design approach to smartform’s work, underpinned with a passion for creating enduring form and materiality.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Anya Lee
Associate

MArch, BArch RMIT University

Anya is a highly accomplished architectural designer with almost a decade of experience across a broad range of projects with well-respected Architectural firms.

The breadth of Anya’s experience ranges from iconic sport infrastructure, multi-residential and commercial developments, to city-changing Melbourne Metro rail and transport.

In her dedication to quality, bespoke design outcomes, Anya is heavily involved in team collaboration, design process and stakeholder engagement.

Anya has a particular passion for projects that consider community health and well-being. Her work with Smartform aligns her interests in community and youth health, elite fitness and sports innovation that can enhance the way we experience sport today and in the future.

Since joining Smartform Anya has been involved in the $225million Marvel Stadium redevelopment, and other projects in collaboration with the AFL - such as the Indoor Field of Dreams elite and community training facility and sports venue sensory room design.

 
 
 
 
 

Katarzyna Dabrowska
Architecture Graduate

Katarzyna is a recent graduate from the Bartlett School of Architecture who has gained her initial experience in architecture and design by working in Australia and the United Kingdom. Through working in international practices, she gained experience in an array of projects. From sport venues, aviation and transportation, shopping and leisure centres, office, and workplaces, to housing schemes. 

After joining the Smartform team in 2020, she began to use projects as a developing platform which allows for a more collaborative process within the built environment sector, experiments with advanced, digital design techniques, radical materiality and interactive, virtual platforms to, actively engage in wider critical design issues. 

Through the involvement in large-scale projects, Katarzyna’s work became focused on design growth evolving form, exploration, learning and adaptation of the existing. 

Katarzyna is intrigued by the emerging technologies and the contemporary digital realm, her approach to design and learning research is focused on the exploration of alternative pathways of human habitation and communication within the built environment.

Marie MacGregor
Marketing, Design and Communications Lead

Marie has expertise in communication design and in executive operational roles. Marie takes an engaged and collaborative approach to her work and believes that good communication, deep understanding, and research is key to ensuring great outcomes.

As a designer and senior leader, Marie strives to create beautifully simple and timeless work that is transparent and intuitive. Communication that is well-thought-out and appropriate; where the message is presented with clarity and expression. Marie’s experience in executive operational roles augments her design capabilities with a focus on delivery, people, process, and team culture.

Working across wide focus areas including; corporate identity and branding, process development and improvement, editorial and print design, environmental signage, digital and web design, FMCG and packaging design, tender management and design, event design and management, research and writing, external and internal communications, and, developing marketing and social media campaigns.

This unique and diverse background gives Marie an appreciation of the design process, of project management delivery and of operational business challenges.
